Chapin may not have endless location options, but the ones it does have are truly stunning. Whether you’re dreaming of lake vibes, natural scenery, or something in between, there are a handful of spots that offer beautiful backdrops for your session.
These are my top four go-to photo locations around Chapin—places I return to again and again because they never disappoint. If you’re open to venturing a bit beyond Chapin, be sure to keep an eye out for my Top Location Spots in Irmo, SC for your next photo session.

1. Lake Murray - Chapin, SC
The lake offers so many different photo opportunities, and it all depends on where you are on the water. Around Chapin, many don’t realize that some of the best views are right in their own backyard. If you have a home on the lake, you already have a million-dollar backdrop that truly can’t be beat.
From sunrise to sunset, the light on the lake is always beautiful and ever-changing. Some may wonder about other boats, docks, or lake traffic—but those little distractions are usually easy to edit out, allowing the focus to stay exactly where it should be: on you.
So if you live in Chapin and have lake property, don’t overlook it when planning your next photo session. Sometimes the perfect location is already home.
2. Crooked Creek Park - Chapin, SC
This park is such a fun and versatile spot for photos. From the beautiful trees and peaceful creek to the benches scattered throughout, every corner offers something special. The variety of trees means there’s always a perfect backdrop, and the walking trails make it easy to wander along the creek while capturing a wide range of looks in one session.
3. Dreher Island State Park - Prosperity, SC
I love, love, love this place—I could honestly take photos here every single day. From the lake and winding trails to nature views and charming bridges, it’s the perfect location for a photo session. And the sunsets? Absolutely stunning.
If you don’t live on the lake but still want those dreamy lake photos, this spot is for you. There are so many great places to stop for photos, and moving around the park during your session lets us capture the very best views.
Just a heads-up: the park does require a small car entry fee, and sessions wrap up at sundown.
4. Peak to Prosperity Passage - Broad River Trestle - Peak, SC
This location offers a stunning lake view from the top of a historic trestle on the Broad River. From there, a trail stretches for nearly 10 miles, featuring several smaller bridges along the way. The best part? You don’t have to walk the entire trail to capture incredible views.
With convenient parking right beside the trestle, this spot is easily accessible and perfect for sessions of all kinds. It’s truly one of my all-time favorite locations and consistently delivers some of my favorite images. It’s usually not too busy, though we’ll just keep an eye out for the occasional biker passing through.
You can also explore beneath the trestle, which opens up even more unique photo opportunities—giving you a wide variety of looks all within one session.
No matter which location you choose, your photos will reflect your story in a way that feels personal and true to you. Each of these spots offers its own style and charm, so the best choice really depends on the vibe you want for your session.
